Colourfest Film Festival debuted in May 2010 at The Red Rattler, Marrickville. The opening night screened ten short films (selected from a national call out), with nine in competition. The winners were selected by an audience vote on the debut night. Best film was awarded to Saliha Wazirzada for the film ‘Zarmina’ and runner up awarded to Fadia Abboud, for ‘Big Trouble, Little Fish’.
The festival attracted sponsorship from the likes of SBS, Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE), Templar Films, Madman Films, Film Ink magazine and various small contributors.SBS was a strong supporter of the festival and promoted it through it’s media networks. The festival received wide publicity in film and media publications; including a feature article on the on line edition of Encore Magazine and was listed on all major screen culture sites, including Screen Hub and Screen NSW.
